Daily Dirt: Who Datt?
Daily Dirt for July 26, 2021 by Steve Eighinger
Love is still a many splendored thing. Vol. 18 of the Daily Dirt might help explain why:
1. The most underrated love song ever? I would suggest Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.” I consider it Clapton’s finest overall piece — ever. His guitar-playing ability is little more than background noise to lyrics that are so incredibly penetrating. And to this day, this 1977 release sounds as meaningful and … well, wonderful … as it did so many years ago.
2. My pick for the next big thing among women’s sportscasters is Alexa Datt on the MLB Network. It’s obvious network officials are showcasing her more and more — and well they should. Datt is well-versed in the national pastime and appears to be a true star in the making. She’s definitely all Datt.
3. Best horror movie very few may know about? I would highly suggest finding a copy of “Island of the Lost Souls” (1932). Charles Laughton, Bela Lugosi and Kathleen Burke headline an underrated cast. I am told you can find the film on Netflix.
