Letter to the Editor: 7th Ward citizens need to be heard and represented, not lorded over

Elections have consequences.

As a former business owner who operated a business in the 7th Ward for more than 30 years and continues to invest in the ward, I ask 7th Ward voters to vote for Tim Siemer as your alderman.

During the past four years, voters in the 7th Ward have faced many issues, including the life-threatening pandemic. Business owners in the 7th Ward not only faced the pandemic but also the prospect of laying off employees and closing their places of business. A new rule or restriction was being placed every day on a business. Many businesses struggled to determine what rules applied to them and how to keep employees employed and safe.

It was during this time of uncertainty as business owners looked to the state, county, and city leaders for guidance that the current alderman on the floor of the City Council threatened to turn off the water of any business he felt was not in compliance. This type of draconian edict from the current alderman shows a complete lack care or concern for the businesses in the city. Quincy and the 7th Ward deserve better.

The voters in Quincy’s 7th Ward have an opportunity On April 4 to improve their representation on the City Council by voting for Tim Siemer. He has lived in the 7th Ward for more than 20 years. He understands the need for 7th Ward citizens to be heard and represented, not lorded over.
