Two found dead in apartments on Spring Street

QUINCY — Two men were found dead Wednesday morning in separate apartments in the same building on Quincy’s north side.

Adams County Coroner Scott Graham and officers with the Quincy Police Department were on the scene late Wednesday morning to remove the bodies from the building.

Four apartments are in the building at 1303 Spring. The bodies were in the apartments on the building’s north side, facing the alley. One was in an upstairs apartment, the other in a downstairs apartment.

Graham confirmed one of the bodies had been deceased longer than the other, but he said he would not have official times or causes of death until later in the week. He also wanted to notify family in both cases.

Both of the deceased were white males.

A statement from Mike Tyler, deputy chief with the Quincy Police Department, said officers were sent to the building at approximately 9:47 a.m. The property manager received a request from a family member to check on a person at the property and found a deceased male in his 60s.

While officers were investigating the scene, the property manager checked on another male in his 60s in a different apartment. The subject had been ill and not heard from in several days. The person in the different apartment also was found deceased.

Tyler said the preliminary investigation does not lead QPD to believe any foul play was involved in the deaths.  Autopsies are scheduled to be performed Friday on both deceased people.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Quincy Police Department’s investigations division.
