HANNIBAL, Mo. — An Earth Day clean-up event, sponsored by Hannibal Board of Public Works, Hannibal Parks and Recreation, Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce and US Cellular, will begin at the Y Men’s Pavilion on Saturday, April 29. It was postponed on Saturday, April 22.

Volunteers can meet anytime from 8-11 a.m. to pick up supplies. Gloves and trash bags will be provided by the Hannibal Board of Public Works. US Cellular will provide water bottles to the first 100 participants.

After picking up trash bags and gloves, volunteers can pick up trash anywhere in Hannibal. After the trash is bagged, representatives from Hannibal Board of Public Works and Hannibal Parks and Recreation will pick up the bags to be taken to a dumpster at the Y Men’s Pavilion.

In a press release, Mary Lynne Richards, recreation supervisor with Hannibal Parks and Recreation, said, “You can’t clean up the entire planet, but you can beautify a pocket of your neighborhood.”

Participants are asked to take photos and post them to social media with the hashtag #earthday and #hannibalparks.
