Quincy Conference to go on hiatus for 2023

QUINCY — Quincy Conference, an event where thousands of educators descended into Quincy for two days of workshops for professional development off-and-on for the last 40 years, won’t be returning this year.

But it could return in the future.

“The door isn’t completely closed on Quincy Conference,” said Michaela Fray-Tappe, director of LEAD Projects for the Regional Office of Education, who co-chaired the conference.

In 2016, Quincy Conference returned after a fourteen-year hiatus as an in-person event at Quincy Public Schools. It ran through 2019 and then halted due to the COVID Pandemic. It ran virtually the last two years before the decision to pull the plug this year.

“Quincy Conference has always been and is still committed to collecting and analyzing feedback about the conference when planning,” Fray-Tappe said. “In lieu of an annual conference, ongoing and real-time professional learning will better meet our region’s needs. ROE #1 will continue to support all school districts within the six-county region; however, rather than the annual conference, ROE #1 will provide ongoing, on-sight, real-time support to the districts it serves.”
