QHS theatre department production of ‘Lizzie Borden of Fall River’ set for May 11-13

QUINCY — The theatre department at Quincy High School will end the 2022-23 school year with the historical drama, “Lizzie Borden of Fall River” by Tim Kelly, which takes audiences to Fall River, Mass., in 1892.

The Lizzie Borden case divided public opinion as no murder trial had ever done.  Did the strong-willed, intelligent Lizzie dispatch her father and stepmother one fateful August morning, or was she the innocent victim of circumstance? The fascinating cast of characters are each involved with the tragedy.  Along the way, the audience is gripped as clues fall in and out of place.

Why was the evidence that would help prove Lizzie innocent withheld?  Who is lying, and who is telling the truth?  Why do so many rush to her defense and so many others want her punished?  It’s a drama, mystery, suspense-thriller that will keep the audience guessing right up to the final scene.

The Borden family will be played by seniors Camrynn Frese, Clara Louthan, Thalia Wolfmeyer and juniors Colin Egbert and Lily Twaddle. Sophomore Adelaide Teefey is the housemaid. Local town friends are senior Isabella Green and sophomore Gabby Hanchett.  Junior Lucas Piazza portrays the defense attorney, while sophomore Evie Tallcott tackles the role of an independent female news reporter. 

Other cast members are Conall Wolfmeyer, Kelsi VanderMaiden, Addison Gosteli, Keaton Lyons and Aidan Hutton.

The production is under the direction of Meghan Buckley, with David Buckley overseeing technical direction. Senior Ray-Ann Cook, junior Allison Stephenson and sophomore Emmaleen Robertson will oversee stage management. Sophomore Madison Daggett will serve as student director. 

Show dates are at 7 p.m. May 11, 12 and 13 in the Quincy High School Theatre. Tickets are priced at $8 for students and $12 for adults.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.qps.org/departments/music.  For more information, call the QHS music office at 217-224-3774.
