Thursday afternoon fire at Fifth and Lind contained to front porch; no one injured
QUINCY — No one was injured at a house fire Thursday afternoon at 831 N. Fifth.
The Quincy Fire Department responded to a call at 2:07 p.m. for a house on fire at Fifth and Lind. Upon arrival, crews found smoke and fire coming from the front porch of the structure.
Engine Company No. 4 pulled a hoseline and advanced toward the structure and began to extinguish the fire. Company No. 2 then arrived and assisted with the hoseline advancement and set up ladders to search for fire extension into the roof. Crews proceeded to overhaul the porch and assured that the fire was extinguished.
Additional personnel checked the inside of the house. Crews cleared the scene at 3:17 p.m.
The fire was contained to the porch of the home. No residents were displaced.
Two Quincy Fire Department Arson Investigators were on scene and conducted an investigation into the possible cause. They were assisted by Quincy Police Department Investigators. The incident is still under investigation.
