Man arrested for horse sex remains in Adams County Jail; arraignment set for May 10
QUINCY — A Quincy man arrested Friday for having sex with a horse appeared in Adams County Circuit Court Monday morning after spending the weekend in the Adams County Jail.
Jack R. Blanke, 39, of Quincy is charged with unlawful sexual contact with an animal, a Class 4 felony punishable for between 1 and 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, and criminal trespassing, a Class B misdemeanor.
Blanke’s case is going to the Adams County Grand Jury and Judge John Wooleyhan scheduled his arraignment for May 10.
Blanke has yet to enter a plea and, as of Monday morning, had not posted the 10 percent down of $2,000 needed to be released on bond. He appeared in court wearing standard orange and white jail garb; not the camo hoodie and jeans he wore in court Friday afternoon and the same clothes he was wearing while allegedly having sex with the horse about 12 hours earlier.
Assistant Public Defender Chris Pratt said Blanke is getting a credit of $30 a day in jail and will be released on bond once he accumulates the needed funds, which should take seven days.
Blanke was caught early Friday morning by Adams County Sheriff’s Department deputies who had been on stationary patrol near the farm in the 4200 block of Deer Ridge Road in Melrose Township. Blanke allegedly stood on a five-gallon bucket and fed the horse apples to entice it while he “placed his penis inside the vagina” of the horse, according to court documents.
