QUINCY — No one was injured as investigators continue to search for the cause of a fire Tuesday night in a Quincy home.

The Quincy Fire Department responded at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a two-story residential wood frame home at 2945 Hampshire on fire, with flames coming from the windows. Upon arrival, the first arriving crew found the house to have flames coming from the south and west sides.  The home to the west also had heat damage to the siding.

A press release from the Quincy Fire Department said the initial crew pulled a hoseline and proceeded to place water on the flames as well as protect the house next door.  When additional crews arrived, a water supply was established from the hydrant at 30th and Hampshire. Additional hoselines were pulled to douse the flames from the exterior.

Once water supply was established, crews entered the structure and made an interior attack.  Once most of the flames were subdued, crews began to search the interior and roof area for hidden fires.  Crews removed a portion of the roof covering and soffit areas and continued the overall search until all signs of smoke subsided.

The home sufered extension damage from fire and heat throughout the first and second floors.  Damage to the house next door was limited to melted siding.

The residents of the home were not there at the start of the fire but arrived shortly after notification.  The Red Cross was contacted to assist the family who will be displaced.

The Quincy Fire Department had 15 members on scene, four engines, the assistant chief and deputy chiefs.

Two fire department investigators were called to determine cause and origin.
