QND team wins Ultimate Outdoor 3-on-3 Challenge at Gardner Camp

HULL, Ill. – A team of sophomores from Quincy Notre Dame won the Ultimate Outdoor 3-on-3 Challenge on Saturday, May 6 at Gardner Camp. Eleven teams participated.

The winning team comprised Wyatt Mueller, Carter Rhodes and Dylan Tyler. They were coached by Matt Mueller. The team of Mason Ingalls, Case Hughes and Kolin Bockhold from Camp Point Central finished second. They were coached by Randy Bockhold. Laqst year’s champions, the QND Blue team, was made up of Caiden Geise, Dylan Schrage and A.J. Siebers.  

Tyler won the .22-caliber rifle challenge. Garrett Rich from Quincy High School won the archery challenge, and Johnny Picone from Louisiana (Mo.) won the trap shoot challenge.

This outdoor-skills team competition highlighted the skills of boys and girls in grades 7-12 as they competed for a $1,000 grand prize from Illinois Ducks Unlimited to be awarded to their school. The top three teams and the top finishers in each challenge received trophies and prizes.

Gardner Camp, located outside of Hull, is a not-for-profit private foundation established by the generosity of the late John Willis “Jack” Gardner II. He appointed State Street Bank Trust Department to develop Gardner Camp into an outdoor education and recreation center for youth organizations.  Guided by a local advisory board, Gardner Camp offers mentored youth hunting, shooting sports and outdoor education year-round. It is celebrating its 10th year offering outdoor education for youths.
