‘Heart Check for Tim’ benefit raises money for QMG Foundation, scholarship fund at QND
QUINCY — Family and friends of Timothy Haley participated in the “Heart Check for Tim” benefit on Saturday, May 13 on the Knights of Columbus grounds.
Organizers of the event hope to raise awareness for unknown heart conditions. Haley was 26 years old when he died from an unknown heart issue, later identified as fatal ventricular arrhythmia due to cardiomegaly with hypertrophy.
One of the activities was a wiffleball tournament. Also offered was a motorcycle poker run, silent auction, basket raffle, food and cash bar.
Proceeds from the event will be distributed between the Quincy Medical Group Foundation, to assist families who have children diagnosed with heart conditions and need medical care outside of the local community, and the Timothy L. Haley Scholarship Fund at Quincy Notre Dame, which will be given to the senior who maintains the highest grade point average while participating in sports during their four years at QND.
