HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Regional Medical Group recently added Emma Wright to its pediatrics team.

Wright earned her medical degree from A.T. Still University in Kirksville and completed her residency at the University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Columbia.

Wright chose to pursue pediatrics because she loves taking care of children.

“I always knew I wanted to be a mother growing up. It took time to appreciate that I wanted to incorporate care of children into my career as well,” she said in a prepared statement. “It wasn’t until I had children of my own, both prior to and during medical school, that I knew how important it was to me to recreate the amazing care we received from their general pediatrician.

“The most rewarding thing about being a pediatrician is getting the blessing and privilege of celebrating each milestone a child reaches alongside their proud parents. I love the idea of following a patient from infancy to adulthood and feeling that I’ve played a small role in keeping them healthy throughout the journey. As a mother I recognize what a precious gift our children are to us. I know that entrusting their care to a pediatrician is not a decision that is taken lightly. When I am not taking care of my own family, there is no greater honor than taking care of yours.”

Wright chose to join Hannibal Regional because Hannibal is home.

“I have an immense pride in my hometown of Hannibal and look forward to serving the community that helped raise me,” she said. “If I’ve learned anything during my years of juggling training and motherhood, it’s that it truly takes a village to raise a child. I’m excited for the opportunity to be a part of a village that cultivates healthy and thriving children.”

Wright is accepting new patients at Hannibal Regional Medical Group. Contact the pediatrics office at 573-629-3500.
