CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College recently announced the promotion to three members of the faculty — Jay Hoffman, professor; David Lane, senior lecturer; and Angel Knoverek, associate professor, who was also granted tenure. These three were recognized for their overall excellence and commitment to developing students of promise at C-SC.

In a press release, President Lauren Schellenberger said, “It is always a privilege to recognize faculty members who exemplify academic excellence. The decision to award promotion is the result of extensive reviews by faculty colleagues, the president and the Board of Trustees; and each of this year’s awardees are very deserving.”

Hoffman joined the college in 2008 as an assistant professor of athletic training. After several years as the athletic training program director and assistant professor of health and movement science at Graceland University in Iowa, he returned to C-SC in 2015.

He since has served as associate dean of graduate and professional studies and program director and chair of the athletic training and health sciences program. Hoffman received a promotion to professor. He earned his bachelor of science in physical education from Cornell College in Iowa; a master of science in physical education, recreation and dance from Illinois State University; and a doctor of health science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Lane has led the C-SC theatre department since 2018. Before his recent promotion to senior lecturer, he served as a lecturer of speech and theatre education. He is responsible for directing two theatre productions each year and sponsors the theater club. He actively serves on several C-SC committees, is the recipient of numerous theatre awards and is a volunteer in various community theater outlets.

Lane earned his bachelor of arts in accounting from the University of Iowa and a master of arts in theatre education from Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

Knoverek has been an assistant professor in the psychology department at C-SC since 2017. She earned tenure and a promotion to associate professor. Knoverek is a licensed clinical professional counselor in the state of Illinois and is an approved clinical supervisor and has extensive experience in both academic and field settings.

Knoverek owns and operates Mindshift Center in Quincy, Ill., a private counseling practice as well as a training and consultation business for professionals. She is a frequent presenter and has been featured in several professional publications.

Knoverek earned a bachelor of science in English and a bachelor of science in psychology from C-SC, a master of science in clinical psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., and a doctorate in philosophy, counselor education and supervision from Regent University, Virginia Beach, Va.
