Ameren Missouri and Cool Down Missouri have donated 75 window air conditioning units to the North East Community Action Corporation to be distributed to qualifying elderly and disabled residents in nine Missouri counties. Locally, Ameren customers living in Lewis, Monroe, Pike and Ralls counties can participate.

In a press release, NECAC’s Kayla Wasson said, “We encourage elderly and disabled customers of Ameren to give us a call and set up an appointment with the NECAC Service Center in their county. It’s very important that as temperatures rise, people the most at risk for health problems stay cool.”

Applicants should bring a Social Security card, proof of last month of income and their latest Ameren bill to their appointment. Air conditioners are available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis.
