Twelve employees of Dot Foods and Dot Transportation, Inc., awarded Quilts of Valor

MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — The Quilts of Valor Foundation presented 12 Dot Foods and Dot Transportation, Inc., employees with Quilts of Valor at a ceremony at Dot Foods in Mount Sterling on July 5. This ceremony, organized by Dot’s Veterans Employee Resource Group, recognized the following veteran employees:

  • Jacob Bottorff of Quincy
  • John Deckard of Macomb
  • Carroll Harms of Mendon
  • Kevin Mast of Quincy
  • Gaylon Ryan of Quincy
  • Joe Simpson of Mount Sterling
  • Wayne Thomas of Rushville
  • Clark Walton of Carthage
  • Curtis Whitehurst of Petersburg
  • Bob Williams of Carthage
  • Nicholas Williams of Quincy

The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a national group that creates comforting quilts for service members or veterans who have been touched by war. The quilts are a personal award bestowed on a veteran by the military. Recipients are nominated based on their selfless service and sacrifice in defense of our nation. 

Quilts of Valor Foundation was founded in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, who designated the high-quality, hand-made quilts to be held to a high standard of excellence. Dot’s Veterans Employee Resource Group hosts the Quilts of Valor ceremonies in Mount Sterling each year. The Quilts of Valor Foundation and the Veterans Employee Resource Group have teamed up to award 62 Dot Foods and Dot Transportation, Inc., employees this special recognition during the last five years.
