LOUISIANA, Mo. – John Davis, of Ravenscraft Realty, is taking the real estate business underground.

Davis recently listed a “one-of-a-kind property,” located along Hwy 79 near Louisiana on five acres, is a 575 square foot one-bed, one-bath cabin on steel stilts that sits at the base of the hillside.

Underneath the property is where it gets interesting.

A mine system sits below the hillside, a spacious system of connecting and intersecting tunnels. Davis said the system was once used for oolitic limestone; it is rumored to have once been used as a clay mine.

When it was purchased back in the 90s it was intended to use the property as a mushroom farm, though this never came to fruition.

“This place is perfect for a doomsday bunker/prepper setup,” Davis said. “Family getaway, private storage, or anything your mind can conjure for this amazing property.”

Davis was told the property was owned by the Stark Bro’s, who started the Stark Bro’s Nurseries & Orchards Co. in Louisiana in the late 1800s. C.M. Stark introduced the well known Red Delicious apple.

The property is what legends are made of.

“Having spoken to several men in their 70s and 80s, who tell of sneaking into the cave when they were young boys, this place has garnered something of a local legend status,” Davis said.

Please note that the listing agent must be present for each showing, and no one under the age of 15 will be allowed inside the cave.

All those viewing the property must wear personal protective equipment (provided by the listing agent). Liability waiver must be signed and sent along with pre-approval/proof of funds.
