Hannibal man charged after attempting to steal catalytic converter from vehicle
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man was arrested July 3 and charged the next day with attempted stealing, property damage and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 28th at approximately 2:48 p.m. in the 2100 block of Broadway. Officers were called to the alleyway of the 2100 block of Broadway for a stealing in progress. It was reported a male, identified as 34-year-old Travis L. Rickey, was attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked in the alleyway.
When officers contacted Rickey, he jumped into his vehicle and fled the area.
Detectives and the Anti-Crime Enforcement Squad went to a residence in the 1000 block of Hayward on Wednesday, July 3. They were given consent to search the residence for Rickey. He was located hiding under a bed. When Rickey came out from under the bed, he attempted to flee again but was quickly apprehended.
Rickey was transported to Marion County Jail. His bond was set at $25,000 cash, and he has since posted bond on the warrant.
