UPDATED: Stabbing suspect makes first court appearance

The Quincy Police Department made a Sunday arrest in connection with a stabbing that took place Friday night on the city’s West side.

Keith Young, 20, was arrested Sunday afternoon at the 1000 block of Jersey, where police were investigating a case of home invasion and aggravated unlawful restraint.

Young is the suspect in a stabbing that took place during a fight in the 5th and Chestnut neighborhood outside the Chestnut Market bodega. The stabbing victim is in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis recovering from his injuries.

Young is in the Adams County Jail on $500,000 bond and faces attempted murder charges when he appears in court Monday. He also faces home invasion and aggravated unlawful restraint charges in connection with the Sunday morning incident.

UPDATE: Young made his first court appearance Monday and was formally charged with attempted murder and home invasion with a dangerous weapon.

His bond was set at $1,250,000 and has a preliminary hearing date of May 17.
