Blessing Health Hannibal earns imaging accreditations from American College of Radiology

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Blessing Health Hannibal has been awarded three-year terms of accreditation for computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) after a recent review by the American College of Radiology.

CT scans use x-rays to create multiple cross-sections of the body. MRI uses radio waves and strong magnets to create body images. Each technology has unique capabilities to generate images of different body parts and structures, and the disease processes or injuries by which they are affected.

ACR accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. Providers receive a comprehensive report after the evaluation that can be used for continuous practice improvement.

Blessing Health Hannibal also holds ACR accreditation in nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), mammography and ultrasound imaging services.
