Multiple QFD crews respond to northside apartment fire

QUINCY – The Quincy Fire Department responded to a fire at 1123 N. 6th St. early Saturday morning at a two-story brick residence with four apartments.

No one was injured, but two of the residents are displaced.

QFD Engine Companies #4, #2, #6 and the Incident Commander responded.  Pre-Arrival, QPD Officers reported flames visible to the rear of the structure and that they were checking on occupants.

Engine Company #4 arrived on scene first and reported a two-story brick residence with fire to a second floor wood deck and stairwell at the rear of the residence.  As the Incident Commander and Engine Company #2 arrived on scene, the crew of Engine #4 was pulling an attack line to the rear of the residence. 

QPD Officers reported that all of the occupants were out of the building and no injuries were reported. 

The crew of Engine Co. #4 extinguished the fire and the crew of Engine Co. #2 conducted search and overhaul operations.  Engine Co. #6 established a supply line from the intersection of N. 6th St. & Cherry St.  to Engine #4, then, assisted with support operations. 

There was extensive damage to the second floor deck and exterior of the building on the west side.  Investigators are currently investigating the possible cause.  QFD received assistance at the scene from QPD, Adams County EMS and Ameren.

The residence contained four apartments and a total of six occupants.
