Baylis man gets 30 months of conditional discharge in plea; three counts of unlawful possession of weapon by felon dropped

BAYLIS, Ill. — A Baylis man pled guilty to a Class 3 felony for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon on Monday in Pike County Circuit Court and will receive 30 months of conditional discharge.

A bench trial was scheduled for Monday for Donovan Syrcle, 35. However, as part of Syrcle’s plea agreement, three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and/or ammunition by a felon were dropped. Syrcle’s attorney was John Coonrod.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department executed two court-authorized search warrants at separate locations in Baylis on July 31, 2022. During the execution of the warrants, firearms and firearms ammunition were located and seized. 

Syrcle was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Jail. His bond was set at $15,000, and Syrcle posted $500 bond on Aug. 8, 2022 and $1,000 bond on Aug. 12, 2022.
