Five people facing drug charges after execution of search warrant at Pittsfield address

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — Five people were arrested on Aug. 31 after officers with the Pittsfield Police Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police executed a court-authorized search warrant at 124 S. Illinois.

Officers located and seized methamphetamine, methamphetamine paraphernalia, firearms, money and other contraband. The charges listed have been filed by Pike County State’s Attorney Walker Filbert.  

Those arrested were: 

  • Michael E Gillis, 61, of Pittsfield for possession of methamphetamine – less than five grams, possession of hypodermic syringes and illegal possession of a firearm. 
  • Matthew A Friedel, 37, of Jerseyville for possession of methamphetamine – less than five grams, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. 
  • Melondy A Otterstedt, 27, of Pittsfield for possession of methamphetamine – less than five grams, and possession of a controlled substance. 
  • Geofrey J Scott, 42, of Carrolton for possession of methamphetamine – less than five grams.
  • David L Thaxton, 32, of Alton for possession of methamphetamine – less than five grams.
