QU’s Mejer featured in international, national art exhibitions

QUINCY — Several works of Quincy University’s Robert Lee Mejer, distinguished professor of art, have been selected for international and national exhibitions.

William Scariato, chair of fine arts at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. selected Mejer’s monotype assemblegraph print, “Variant 1-PC #26,” and his watercolor, “Take PC Open Book #2,” for exhibition in the Illinois State Fair Professional Art Exhibition in Springfield, Ill., that runs from Aug. 12-22.

Illinois artist Ken Call selected Mejer’s watercolor “Take PC #18-Revisited” for inclusion in the Missouri Watercolor Society 2021 International Exhibition in St Louis, which runs from Aug. 27 to Oct. 2. It showcases 79 paintings selected from 27 states and five countries.

Larissa Goldston, director and co-owner of universal limited editions, selected Mejer’s watercolor “Take PC Open Book #3” for inclusion in the Cimarron National Works on Paper Exhibition at the Gardiner Gallery of Art at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. The exhibition will run from Aug. 16 to Sept. 17, with a closing reception on Sept. 14.

Mejer’s watercolor “Take PC: Open Book #4” was selected for inclusion in the Quadrennial Department of Art Faculty and Alumni Show at Miami University Art Museum in Oxford, Ohio, from Aug. 24 to Dec. 11, 2021.

Mejer has been a distinguished professor of art, curator of Gray Gallery and art program coordinator at Quincy University since 1968.
