Dot Foods named ‘Great Place To Work’ for third consecutive year

MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — Dot Foods, Inc., North America’s largest food industry redistributor, recently learned the company has earned Great Place To Work certification for the third consecutive year.

Dot has partnered with Great Place To Work, a global leader in workplace culture, since 2021 to conduct its annual employee survey and assess employee experience.

In a press release, Dot Foods CEO Dick Tracy said, “Dot’s culture is centered around employee feedback, continuous improvement and innovation, so the annual employee survey is always an important time of the year for us. The roots of our culture started with Mom and Dad when they founded the company in 1960. Dad always said that business success starts with the employee. If you have a happy employee, they’ll treat your business partners well. If your business partners are treated well, they’ll keep coming back for more. Since then, we have continued to prioritize culture and heavily rely on employee feedback to foster a positive employee experience. We are proud of the culture we have built here at Dot.”

Thousands of companies worldwide partner with Great Place To Work because of its Trust Index Survey, which serves as the data source for the annual Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list and more than 70 Best Workplaces lists. The 60-question survey measures five areas of workplace culture: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

During the span of three weeks this summer, 6,700 employees across the United States and Canada completed the survey. Dot increased employee participation in the survey this year by 6 percent. 

Dot entered 2023 with a strong corporate action plan to improve areas of the employee experience where they received the most feedback from employees in 2022. The action plan included pursuing a more consistent employee experience, demonstrating all-in leadership at every level, and enhancing employee well-being. Dot saw increases across all their focus areas in 2023.

“We’re a data-driven company, so the information we gather by partnering with Great Place To Work is invaluable,” said Mandi Clark, Dot’s vice president of human resources. “It helps us gauge where we stand with our employees and what areas of opportunities we should be prioritizing. We have already started digging into this year’s feedback and will be sorting it into corporate, location, and departmental action plans. I’m excited to see what progress we’ll make this year thanks to employees sharing their candid thoughts with us.”
