Quincy teen, 16, faces sexual assault charges after dragging girl, 13, into wooded area near Indian Hills

QUINCY — A Quincy teenager made his first appearance in Adams County Circuit Court on Tuesday and was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Terrance Wilson, 16, who lives in the Indian Hills Housing Complex in Quincy, was arrested Monday. Because of Wilson’s age and the nature of the offenses, Wilson’s case was transferred to adult court instead of juvenile court.

Officers with the Quincy Police Department were dispatched at approximately 8:15 p.m. Sunday to an address in Indian Hills, 540 Harrison, in reference to an ambulance call.

Officers met with a resident of the housing complex who reported her 13-year-old daughter had been drug into a wooded area by force and sexually assaulted by an unknown subject. The girl was transported to Blessing Hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. A juvenile detective was called that night and began collecting information and reviewing video surveillance.

Detectives continued with the investigation and reviewed more video surveillance that showed a subject, later identified as Wilson, dragging the juvenile victim toward the woods. The victim was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center.

Wilson was taken into custody without incident at 2:15 p.m. Monday at Quincy High School by school resource officers with the Quincy Police Department, then transported to the Quincy Police Department. He was interviewed by detectives and later lodged in the Adams County Youth Detention Facility.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at Wilson’s Indian Hills residence.

Aggravated criminal sexual assault is a Class X felony, punishable for between 16 and 40 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections if Wilson was found guilty.

Wilson’s next court date is set for Oct. 4.
