Return of Great River Film Festival postponed until next year

QUINCY — The return of the Great River Film Festival has been postponed for a year.

Mike Marx, one of the coordinators of the non-profit event, made the announcement Monday. The second annual festival had been scheduled for early October at Town and Country Suites, 110 N. 54th.

Marx said plans are already underway to have the event during the same time period — no exact date(s) have yet been announced — in the fall of 2024.  

The festival was to have showcased in-person former movie and television stars such as Eric Roberts, Patrick Wayne, Jon Provost, Kim Lankford, Trina Parks, Rebecca Holden, Ruta Lee, Caryn Richman and Allen Kayser.

Proceeds were scheduled to have been donated to local arts and/or educational organizations, according to event spokesmen Marx and O.C. Latta, both of Hannibal, Mo.

“We just ran into some unfortunate problems and needed to postpone the festival until next year,” Marx said. “We waited a little too long to put together proper sponsorships and decided the best thing to do was wait until next year. We’ve already got confirmations for 2024, including Eric Roberts.”

Marx, who spent more than 30 years as a talent agent in Hollywood, has coordinated such festivals different regions of the country for many years.
