Brown County Deer Classic for St. Mary School scheduled for Saturday
MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — The 33rd annual Brown County Deer Classic, a fundraiser for St. Mary School in Mount Sterling, is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11. The Classic is presented by Quincy Farm and Home Supply.
The show will feature the giveaway of more than 100 guns, an E-Bike, 3 carat diamond earrings, hunting excursions, an online and live auction along with a staggering amount of cash and prizes. New this year is a Polaris RZR Youth Model giveaway from Outdoor Powersports.
More than 500 sportsmen and women will gather and enjoy the Classic in the school’s gym featuring a meal, game tent and the “Bragging Wall” which features more than 50 stunning deer mounts. This year’s Classic will be live streamed by BC Hornets Sports.
Event co-founder Jon Boylen said in a press release, “The money we generate supports the efforts of teachers and staff, helps with building upkeep and improvements and most importantly ensures a quality, faith-based education for these kids. At no time has this been more important than right now. We are very excited about providing such a fun and exciting gathering place for everyone who attends while still maintaining a great online presence and live broadcast with BC Hornets Sports.”
Tickets are available at Kassing Lumber Company and Two Wheel Trading Company in Mount Sterling or at bcdeerclassic.com.
Many prize packages and special prizes are available online, along with several very special card raffles, game tent, live auction and other fun opportunities available exclusively at the event.
More than 100 guns will be available along with familiar and fun giveaways like the Super Raffle, Classic Friends Packages and special bonus gifts. Diamond earrings are back — three carats from Sturhahn Jewelers in Quincy.
Webster Auctioneer is the host of a no reserve, timed online auction at websterauctioneers.com. There will also be a small live auction at the event.
Be sure to find a St. Mary’s student to get Loaded Gun Safe Tickets, and check out other online offers. At the event, watch for card raffles like the Three-Bow Extravaganza, the Outdoor Cooking Package and Beef Bundle from Kassing Farms.
The Classic will welcome mascot Booner the BCDC Buck. Booner and his other woodland friends are expected to be making special appearances soon to help promote the event.
“Community reaction is always unprecedented,” co-chair Dave Ferrill said. “This is an important event for the kids, and it has truly become a destination event for our supporters. Most of the people I talk to are planning to attend or join friends and family for watch parties. We are humbled by the support we receive.”
“We are happy to see such an amazing Deer Classic come together for 2023, and this school is growing,” principal Melissa Obert said. “Our Pre-K is at maximum capacity with a waiting list while other class sizes grow each year. Thank you to everyone who helps with and supports this event. The funds generated by this event will be put to good use for these young people.”
