Two arrested in connection with Sunday burglary at Barry Travel Plaza

BARRY, Ill. — A man and a woman recently were arrested in connection to a burglary at the Barry Travel Plaza.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint on Sunday of a theft from the Barry Travel Plaza advising someone had broken into and took money from an ATM/cash changing machine in the gaming area.

After an investigation headed by Deputy Steve Lowry of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, Christopher T. McCorkle, 34, from Clifton was arrested and taken into custody at the Ice House Motel in Barry. Also arrested was Echo L. Brewington, 27, of Quincy.

McCorkle was charged with burglary, theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also was wanted on a no-bond arrest warrant for burglary out of Kankakee County. McCorkle is in the Pike County Jail awaiting a pre-sentence hearing. He is a suspect in the same types of crimes in multiple jurisdictions in Illinois.

Brewington was charged with burglary and theft. She is in the Pike County Jail awaiting a pre-sentence hearing. 

The investigation is still ongoing. Additional charges are expected.
