Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum to be host of bourbon event on Dec. 1
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Bourbon enthusiasts are invited to the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum’s Spirits and Sarcasm event from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the Rialto Banquet Hall. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
Combining Mark Twain’s love of whiskey and his sarcastic sense of humor, Spirits and Sarcasm will include a formal bourbon tasting presented by Dave Otto of Spirit Drinkers of St. Louis. Otto, a self-anointed bourbon expert, will explain the nuances from a selection of five tastings. The master of ceremonies will be Mark Twain, sharing his wit and wisdom.
The evening includes music, hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, tastings and a live auction. A total of 13 to 15 specialty and rare bottles of bourbon will be auctioned off.
Spirits and Sarcasm is a fundraiser for The Mark Twain Home Foundation. Tickets are $50 per person and available at the Mark Twain Museum Gift Shop on the corner of N. Main and Center in downtown Hannibal. Cost for a reserved table for eight is $500.
