Hannibal towing company shows support of local law enforcement with ‘Back the Blue’ signage on truck

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A new tow truck backing into Heartland Towing for the first time was greeted by a group of surprised law enforcement officers.

Heartland Towing in Hannibal, owned by Jason Krigbaum, recently bought a tow truck with a “Back the Blue” design was created by Krigbaum’s son, Dylan. The work was completed by a company in St. Louis.

After months of work on the design, the truck came home to Heartland on Tuesday.

Officers from several departments such as Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Ralls County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol watched as it backed into the garage with the supportive logo.

Sgt. John Henry of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said officers always appreciate this kind of support.

“It’s good to see local businesses supporting law enforcement,” he said. “When we know we are appreciated, it makes it that much easier to get up and go to work everyday.”

Krigbaum said everyone at the towing company has been talking about doing something to support both national and local law enforcement for years. When they bought a new truck, it seemed like a good time to follow through with those plans.

“There’s not much recognition like there should be,” he said. “This is our way of letting them know we are behind them.”
