Quincy Art Center names Teter curator, looks for executive director in leadership restructure

QUINCY — The Quincy Art Center is separating the leadership role of executive director and curator into two full-time positions, with Jennifer Teter continuing as curator while the center looks for an executive director.

The role and responsibilities of a curator have historically been entrusted to the executive director. Teter has filled both roles since 2014.

As the curator, Teter will be responsible for curating exhibitions, managing the permanent collection and maintaining artistic standards.

“The board and I are proud of Jennifer’s leadership accomplishments, particularly in expanding the Art Center’s professional staff, which has enabled us to offer high quality visual art programming to a significantly larger audience,” Quincy Art Center Board President Pasha Yates said in a press release.

“I’m excited to apply my expertise in visual art and museum practices, especially with our new, overarching strategic objective to become a leading source for visual art exhibits and experiences in the Tri-State area,” Teter said. “I eagerly anticipate the arrival of new leadership that shares our commitment to achieving this goal.”

The executive director will provide visionary leadership, strategic direction and management of all aspects of the museum’s operations in accordance with the strategic plan outlined by the board of directors.

“We are confident that the leadership of a new executive director, coupled with Jennifer’s transition to the expanded curator role, will bring new perspectives and exciting opportunities for our organization,” Yates said.
