Man gets hit by car on Broadway Sunday night

QUINCY — A man was taken to Blessing Hospital Sunday night after he was hit by a car while trying to walk across Broadway.

Just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Quincy Police officers were sent to the area of 18th and Broadway along with crews from Quincy Fire Department and Adams County EMS in reference to a vehicle vs pedestrian accident.

First responders found a 46 year old man on lying on Broadway suffering from leg and head injuries. He had been walking on the sidewalk on the south side of Broadway and attempted to cross the four-lane road without using a crosswalk located 100 feet east of 18th Street.

The man failed to yield to Broadway traffic and was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound. He was taken to Blessing Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
