Fifteen agree to plea sentences through Marion County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in November

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Marion County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office closed out the following cases by plea during November.

Styles Fountain, 23, of Mexico, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 1 to felony possession of a controlled substance.  Fountain admitted that on May 7, 2022, he possessed Alprazolam and methylphenidate, both controlled substances. Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd granted Fountain a suspended imposition of sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he completes counseling. The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.  

Gabriel Retamar, 32, of Saint Charles, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 1 to felony driving while intoxicated.  Retamar admitted that on Jan. 2, 2023, he operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and acted with criminal negligence by striking a vehicle and as a result caused physical injury to a male victim.  Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Retamar to four years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he completes counseling.  The case was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Justin Sipp, 39, of Festus, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 2 to felony possession of a controlled substance.  Sipp admitted that on May 9, 2023, he possessed methamphetamine, a controlled substance.  Judge Talley Smith sentenced Sipp to seven years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he completes counseling.  The case was investigated by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnathan Lynn Bryant, 42, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 3 to felony possession of a controlled substance.  Bryant admitted that on Jan. 29, 2023, he possessed methamphetamine, a controlled substance.  Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Bryant to serve five years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he complete counseling.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Kasey Ryan Hudson, 48, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 3 to felony possession of a controlled substance.  Hudson admitted that on Dec. 29, 2021, he possessed methamphetamine, a controlled substance.  Hudson pleaded guilty to felony receiving stolen property.  Hudson admitted that on Feb. 20, 2022, he deprived a male victim of his bank card knowing or believing it had been stolen.  Hudson pleaded guilty to felony receiving stolen property.  Hudson admitted that on March 4, 2022, he deprived a male victim of his bank card knowing or believing it had been stolen. Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Hudson to seven years in prison on each charge to run concurrent to the previous cases, but she suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he complete counseling and pay restitution.  Those cases were investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Julie Ann Young, 63, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 3 to felony assault.  Young admitted that on Sept. 3, 2023, she caused physical injury to a male victim by striking him with a baseball bat.  Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Young to serve four years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed her on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that she completes counseling and has no contact with the victim nor with others involved.  That case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Christopher Courtney, 37, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 8 to felony resisting an arrest and felony violation of an order of protection.  Courtney admitted that on May 13, 2023, he purposely tried to prevent officers from making an arrest by fleeing from the officers.  Courtney admitted he also violated an order of protection by making contact with a female victim by shoving her against a wall.  Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Courtney to serve four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.  Courtney pleaded guilty to felony resisting an arrest and felony of failing to register as a sex offender.  Courtney admitted that on or between Dec. 1, 2022, and April 22, 2023, he failed to perform the duties required of a registered sex offender by failing to provide his new address. Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Courtney to serve four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections concurrent to the previous case. The cases were investigated by the Hannibal Police Department. 

Matthew Warfield, 36, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 16 to felony unlawful use of a weapon and felony possession of a controlled substance. Warfield admitted that on March 15, 2023, he threatened a male victim with a knife and had methamphetamine in his possession.  Judge David Mobley sentenced Warfield to serve four years in prison for the unlawful use of a weapon and to serve six years in prison for possession of a controlled substance but suspended execution of those sentences and placed him on five years felony supervised probation to run concurrently under several conditions, including that he serve 120 days in jail.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department. 

Darren Lance Gibbons, 36, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to felony domestic assault.  Gibbons admitted that on July 9, 2023, he caused physical pain to a female victim by hitting her in the face. Judge David Mobley sentenced Gibbons to serve three years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he complete counseling, anger management and batterers’ intervention program.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Tia Lynn Graham, 39, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to felony possession of a controlled substance.  Graham admitted that on Jan. 6, 2023, she possessed methamphetamine.  Judge David Mobley granted Graham a suspended imposition of sentence and placed her on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that she complete substance abuse treatment.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Jon Raymond Morton, 38, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance. Morton admitted that on Feb. 20, 2023, he possessed methamphetamine. Judge David Mobley sentenced Morton to serve five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections and granted time served for days already served.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Christian Dawn Virden, 28, of Quincy, Ill., pleaded guilty to felony tampering.  Virden admitted that on Sept. 3, 2022, she possessed an automobile without the consent of the owner. Judge David Mobley granted Virden a suspended imposition of sentence and placed her on five years of felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that she complete counseling and pay restitution.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.

Dustin Eugene Harelson, 38, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to felony domestic assault.  Harelson admitted that on Aug. 19, 2023, he caused physical pain to a female victim by pushing her. Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Harelson to serve four years in prison but suspended the execution of that sentence and placed him on five years of felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he complete counseling, anger management and not have contact with the victim. The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.  

Donald Ray Zimmer Jr., 18, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to felony assault.  Zimmer admitted that on Feb. 12, 2023, he caused physical injury to a male victim by throwing a bicycle at him.  Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Zimmer to serve three years in prison but suspended the execution of that sentence and placed him on five years felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he complete anger management and not have contact with the victim.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department. 

Zimmer also pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to felony unlawful use of a weapon.  Zimmer admitted that on June 22, 2023, he discharged a firearm at a motor vehicle. Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Zimmer to serve 10 years in prison but suspended execution of that sentence to complete a 120-day institutional treatment center program, then placed him on five years of felony supervised probation under several conditions, including counseling, to run concurrent with the previous case.  The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department. 

Christopher Lee Zeiger, 32, of Hannibal, Mo., pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to two counts of felony domestic assault.   Zeiger admitted that on or between June 1, 2021 and January 3, 2022 he caused physical pain to a male juvenile victim by hitting him with a belt.  Zeiger admitted that on or between Aug. 1, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2022, he attempted to cause physical pain to another juvenile male victim by striking him in the face. On each charge, Judge Rachel Bringer-Shepherd sentenced Zeiger to four years in prison, to run concurrent, but suspended execution of those sentences and placed him on five years of felony supervised probation under several conditions, including that he complete anger management and batterers’ intervention and to have no contact with the victims. The case was investigated by the Hannibal Police Department.
