Jerseyville man facing multiple charges after trying to flee from traffic stop in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — A Jerseyville man was arrested last week after tried to flee following a traffic stop in Pittsfield. 

A Pike County Sheriff’s Department deputy and a Pittsfield Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Tuesday, Dec. 12, on a vehicle reported stolen from Chrisman. The vehicle fled from the scene and crashed a short time later in a backyard off West Lowry Street in Pittsfield. 

The driver of the vehicle, Dennis R. Kraushaar, 49, of Jerseyville fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short distance from the crash.  He was charged with:

  • possession of a stolen vehicle
  • aggravated fleeing to elude
  • driving while license is suspended
  • possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • forgery 
  • criminal damage to property
  • arrest warrant out of St. Clair County
  • arrest warrant out of Macoupin County
  • arrest warrant out of McDonough County

Kraushaar is in the Pike County Jail awaiting prosecution.
