QUINCY — Navigating the challenges of caring for a loved one with cancer can be overwhelming, but a new group aims to provide support for those facing this difficult journey.

Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, Quincy Medical Group will launch Companions of Hope, a support group tailored to those caring for a loved one facing cancer.

Companions of Hope will take place on the second Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Quincy Town Center, in the space west of Zales (near the fountain court). Shari Robesky, oncology social worker and behavioral health therapist at QMG, will lead the group.

In a press release, Robesky said, “Caring for a loved one who is battling cancer can take an emotional toll on a person. This support group is a space where caregivers can come together, share their experiences and find solace in the understanding and empathy of others who are navigating similar paths.”

The support group sessions will feature an informal and compassionate environment, allowing caregivers to connect with one another. Light snacks, drinks and a raffle will be available at each event.

Participants can meet at the meeting site or can gather at 10:45 a.m. in the main waiting area of the QMG Cancer Institute, 3301 Broadway, and walk together to the support group meeting space.
