John Wood Community College to be site of annual West Central Region sophomore career fair Friday
QUINCY — Approximately 850 students from Adams, Pike, Hancock and Brown counties are expected to attend the West Central Region Sophomore Career Fair on Friday, Jan. 26, at John Wood Community College.
Professionals from the region will give presentations in 15 different career cluster areas and the military. Each student will attend two 50-minute presentations. The career fair is divided into a morning session from 9 to 10:45 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12:10 to 1:55 p.m.
Approximately 45 professionals will present about the opportunities within their area of business. Presenters will share information regarding the job environment, employer expectations, salary and education or training needed to succeed. Many careers from nationally recognized career clusters will be represented at the career fair.
The career fair is sponsored by The West Central Region Education for Employment system, a regional cooperative of 10 school districts in Adams, Pike and Hancock counties and one of 57 EFE systems in Illinois that function to coordinate career and technical education programs and services for students enrolled in participating schools. The WCR prepares students for entry-level employment or further post-secondary education through career and technical education programs delivered at area high schools and the Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center.
