QUINCY — Quincy Medical Group, in partnership with the Quincy Arise Coalition, is introducing a series for community members titled “Health is Wealth.”

QMG community health worker Luanna Flagg will be the host of three sessions focusing on health, nutrition and preventive screenings. Each event will feature giveaways and incentives.

“The goal is to make the community aware of the community healthcare workers available to support their overall well-being,” Flagg said in a press release. “I want to engage the community in more healthy behaviors by increasing self-efficacy and letting them know that they have the support from different organizations to do so.”

Scheduled sessions include:

Health is Wealth — Thursday, Jan. 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Quincy Housing Authority, 540 Harrison. This session will explore the connection between a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being. It will emphasize the importance of making informed choices about nutrition, exercise, and preventive healthcare.

Early Detection Saves Lives — Thursday, Feb. 8, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, 224 S. Eighth. This session will highlight the life-threatening impact of early cancer detection. It aims to educate participants about the significance of regular health screenings and proactive health monitoring.

Nutrition is Health — Wednesday, Feb. 21, Noon to 1 p.m. Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, 224 S. Eighth. This session will focus on the pivotal role of a balanced, nutritious diet in preventing illness and promoting overall health. Practical insights into making healthier food choices within budget constraints will also be provided.

“I hope that individuals will gain trust through these sessions, enabling them to openly discuss issues they may feel embarrassed or fearful about without judgment,” Flagg said. “I want individuals to feel comfortable coming into different spaces such as doctors’ offices, community organizations, etc., so that they will feel empowered to take care of their overall health.”

Registration is not required. For additional information, call 217-222-6550, ext. 3418.
