Person removed from structure fire at 519 Riverside in Hannibal

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Fire Department removed an unidentified person from a structure fire at 519 Riverside Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched by the Northeast Missouri Emergency Communications Center after receiving a report of a fire. The initial response was by all stations with 10 firefighters. Eight more firefighters were called to the scene.

Upon arrival, Incident Command confirmed the structure was fully involved with heavy smoke and flames visible.  Firefighters conducted a search of the residence and found a victim inside. The victim was removed from the residence and transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital by the Marion County Ambulance District.

Firefighters had the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes. Firefighters remained on scene with salvage and overhaul operations for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene to conduct an investigation.   

The Hannibal Fire Department was assisted by the Hannibal Police Department, Hannibal Board of Public Works, Marion County Ambulance District and the Hannibal City Building Inspector’s office.

Deputy Chief Ryan Neisen says the fire remains under investigation at this time.
