QUINCY — Quincy High School’s theatre department is presenting the historical drama, “Rosie the Riveter,” at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8, 9 and 10 in the Quincy High School Theatre.

It’s January 1942 in the throes of World War II. Eddie, the owner of Eddie’s Auto Parts Factory in Cook County, Ill., is struggling because of a freeze on the manufacturing of car parts. His secretary, Rosie, wonders if the factory can secure a government contract and be converted to make airplane parts instead — if only they can find the manpower.

At a time when the radio and the mail were the main sources of information, and ration books were in every household, Rosie is willing to shed tradition, roll up her sleeves and do her part. She is chosen to become the iconic image that will inspire so many women workers to join the cause.

Senior Lily Twaddle will bring the role of “Rosie” to life. Senior Colin Egbert portrays “Eddie” the businessman. The strong force of factory women will be played by senior Sullivan Holthaus, juniors Evie Tallcott, Keyarri Holder and Adelaide Teefey, sophomores Addison Gosteli and Elise Lindgren and freshman Miriam Teefey.

Senior Aidan Hutton and junior Richard Coleman hold the roles of the veteran male factory workers.

Representing the soldiers and wives are senior Lucas Piazza as “Sgt. John Stanley” and junior Gabby Hanchett as his beloved “Helen.”

Other cast members are Ethan Rodgers, Isabel Selsor, Olivia Dedert, Lily Arrowsmith, Madison Daggett, Oliver Ginos and Audrey Stewart.

The production is under the direction of Meghan Buckley, with David Buckley overseeing technical direction. Seniors Allison Stephenson, Devon Miller and Kate Heagy will oversee stage management. Madison Daggett will serve as student director. Forty-four QHS students are involved in the production.

Tickets are priced at $8 for students and $12 for adults. They may be bought online at www.qps.org/departments/music. For more information, contact the Quincy High School music office at 217-224-3774.
