Stabbing suspect waives trial, set to enter guilty plea in April

QUINCY — One of two men charged in a September stabbing the Broadway parking lot at Blessing Hospital is scheduled to plead guilty.

Dylan Test waived his right to a jury trial Tuesday in Adams County Circuit Court. April 29 is the scheduled date for his plea hearing. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.

Test, 20, was arrested in Sept. 2023, after Quincy Police Department responded to Blessing Hospital to a reported stabbing, where a victim was found. Police later arrested Test and 20-year-old Heaton Brothers.

Brothers is still scheduled to stand trial in April on charges of attempted murder, armed violence and aggravated battery. He has entered a not guilty plea.

Assistant State’s Attorney Josh Jones told Muddy River News that Test and his attorney, Matthew Radefeld, have agreed for Test to enter a guilty plea to a with a cap on sentencing of 20 years in prison.

In exchange, charges of armed violence and aggravated battery would be dropped.

Both men remain lodged in the Adams County Jail.
