WGEM/John Wood Community College Academic Challenge returns for 30th season with ‘All-Star Challenge’

QUINCY — The WGEM Academic Challenge, a high school scholastic bowl competition, is back for its 30th season. This season kicks off with the inaugural “All-Star Challenge,” featuring eight standout players from local high schools.

Hosted by WGEM chief meteorologist Brian Inman on the JWCC Quincy campus, the WGEM Academic Challenge pits local schools against each other in a battle of wits and knowledge.

The All-Star Challenge will feature players from Quincy Notre Dame, Scotland County, Bushnell-Prairie City, Southeastern, Illini West, Brown County, Macomb and Quincy High School. The competition will air at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3, at 10:30 p.m. on WGEM. The challenge will continue to air each week on WGEM SportsRadio on Fridays at 5 p.m.

Viewers can also catch up on the action by watching episodes on-demand on the WGEM Smart TV App after this weekend.

Tune in to see which player emerges victorious in the All-Star Challenge and to cheer on your favorite local high school team throughout the eight-week season.  The next episode will feature Quincy Notre Dame and Brown County on Friday, March 8, at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 10 at 10:30 p.m.
