Owner anticipates trampoline park should be ready to open by end of month

QUINCY — The anticipation for the opening of the Krazy Town Trampoline Park has been overwhelming at times for owner Kasey Schuster.

The shell of the 30,000-square-foot building at 301 Spring is complete, and workers are inside daily putting together the colorful slides, pits, climbing walls, rock walls and trampolines. Schuster’s goal is for the park to open before April 1.

“As soon as possible,” he said. “The first day we’re able to be open, we will be open.”

However, people already are asking Schuster for even more.

“There’s been a lot of people messaging about different things,” he said with a laugh. “I’ve had people say, ‘Oh you can do this next.’ And I’m thinking, ‘Well, hold on a second.’ Let’s just focus on this (building) right now. For the most part, however, the people have been really excited and overwhelmingly positive.”

Schuster Development LLC of Quincy bought the 2.19-acre vacant lot from Riverside Community Church for $237,500 on Aug. 31, 2022, according to property tax documents filed in the Adams County Recorder’s Office. The property formerly was the site of Jefferson School, which closed in 1983. 

Riverside Community Church bought the property in 2003 with plans to convert the building into a church. However, vandals caused $80,000 damage to the building and a new roof was needed, so the plan fizzled. The school eventually was demolished during the summer of 2013.

Schuster said ground was broken on the site in August. Once the foundation was poured, Shortridge Construction began work on the shell of the building. Crews are installing heating ventilation and air conditioning units and the sprinkler systems.

To be installed are:

• A rock wall with a foam pit
• A Ninja Warrior area with an obstacle course 
• A warp wall
• A balance beam
• An open jump area with trampolines
• Basketball hoops
• Professional trampoline platforms (“You can jump off them and do tricks,” Schuster said)
• A dodgeball court
• An air court that will used for soccer
• A playground with slides, obstacle courses and climbing

“We are here for anybody,” Schuster said. “Anybody from age 6 to 13 is going to really enjoy this. We’re going to have junior jumpers on a couple of mornings a week, but all ages will be able to come in and enjoy themselves.”

Once the park is open, Schuster said he plans to begin work on adding a sports bar. The goal is for that to open during the summer.

“That’s the next phase of construction after we get everything else up and rolling,” he said.

Schuster recently started taking appointments for birthday parties, with the first ones scheduled for April 13. In fact, it was a birthday party at a trampoline park in Columbia, Mo., that inspired Schuster to create Krazy Town.

“I was like, ‘Why in the world Don’t we have one of these in Quincy?’” he said. “Then later I heard five or six other people say, ‘Oh, I’m having my birthday party at a trampoline park in St. Louis.’ Then I was like, ‘Well, why not Quincy?’ 

“I’m kind of a go-big-or-go-home type of type of person. This is kind of what I had in mind. Things don’t always go the way you think they’re going to go over time, but I’ve been pretty lucky and pretty blessed on how the whole project is gone.”
