Prince Tribute ‘Purple Xperience’ and Quincy’s Micki Free coming to Quincy Oct. 29

QUINCY — Tickets now are on sale for the upcoming “Purple Xperience with special guest Micki Free” concert on Friday, Oct. 29 at the Oakley-Lindsay Center.

Purple Xperience is a five-piece group hailing from Prince’s birthplace of Minneapolis. Front-man Marshall Charloff of Purple Xperience has been bringing the most authentic production of Prince and the Revolution music since the band’s inception in 2011. Prince himself gave Charloff his full blessing for the tribute band with one caveat – “it has to be about the music.”

Charloff and The Purple Xperience have become a worldwide phenomenon for the look, the sound and theatrics that strike an uncanny resemblance to Prince, the iconic eclectic pop artist and musician who died in 2016.

Micki Free grew up in Quincy and was a member of the wildly popular local rock band “Smokehouse.” Discovered by KISS legend Gene Simmons, Free is a Grammy Award winner for his guitar work with R&B sensation Shalamar. Free also is a five-time Native American Music Award winner.

This will be his first performance in Quincy in many years.

“Fans from Quincy have been asking me to come back and play,” Free said. “Having a Prince band is a good time for me to perform as well, considering my decade friendship with Prince and the now infamous basketball game.”

Tickets are $40 for VIP and $30 for general admission (including fees). They can be ordered on-line or in person at the Oakley-Lindsay Center box office, 300 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 237, in Quincy.
