PITTSFIELD, Ill. — A Hull man was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a charge of being a child sex offender in a school zone.

Roy Irick, 70, and his attorney, Rick Zimmerman, were in Pike County Circuit Court when he was sentenced by Judge Frank McCartney on March 26.

The investigation began on Aug. 17, 2023, when the Pike County Sheriff’s Department was notified by a local school district that a child sex offender was present during a school function. The case was forwarded to Chief Deputy Zack Orr, who completed the investigation. He determined that Irick attended a school function without prior authorization from the school district’s administration.
