Macomb woman facing drug charges after traffic stop in Hancock County
HANCOCK COUNTY, Ill. — A late Sunday night traffic stop led to the drug arrest of a Macomb woman.
A Hancock County sheriff’s deputy on patrol observed a 2006 Nissan Altima traveling east on U.S. 136 between Hamilton and Elvaston at 11:55 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.
The sheriff’s office canine was deployed and alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed the driver, Samantha E. McLeish, 32, of Macomb was in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine.
McLeish was transported to the Hancock County Jail and charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. She was released on her own recognizance after an initial court appearance.
