Springfield man arrested on multiple charges for April incident on Quincy’s south side

QUINCY — At around 11:15 p.m. on April 8, Quincy Police officers responded to a shots fired call in the 700 block of South 14th.

The victim was not struck and reported that he and a second person were kidnapped at gun point after a home invasion in the 2500 block of Larch Road. The second victim escaped after the shots were fired uninjured.

As part of an ongoing investigation, QPD was able to identify the suspects. Pursuant to that investigation an arrest warrant was sought by the Adams County States Attorney’s Office for Kareun Brewer, 21, of Springfield. Brewer was arrested in Springfield May 10 with the assistance of the Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Agents.

Brewer faces charges of an IDOC parole violation as well as new charges of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Home Invasion. He is currently lodged in the Adams County Jail pending a court appearance.

The investigation is still ongoing and further arrests are possible.
