Quincy nightclub owner purchases Elder’s Restaurant property
Charles Hull, owner of The Complex and The Cab nightclubs in Quincy, has purchased a long-time, but shuttered, restaurant at 18th and State.
The southeast corner of that block was home to Elder’s restaurant from 1970 until June 2019.
But that doesn’t mean your frozen fishbowls of beer or fried chicken will be coming back just yet. It also doesn’t mean a nightclub is going up at that spot. It’s not zoned for that anyway.
Hull says he isn’t ready to disclose his plans for the property at this time.
Elder’s employed 25 full and part-time employees when it closed nearly two years ago. There has been a restaurant at that location since the 1940’s and it has been Elder’s since 1970. Jerry Vogel purchased Elder’s in 1982 and his son, Tim, was running the restaurant when it closed.
Hull does have some experience in the restaurant business. He owned the Riverhouse Bar and Grill in LaGrange, Mo. before closing it after one too many floods hit the Northeast Missouri river community.
