Monroe City woman killed in one-vehicle traffic accident Sunday morning on U.S. 61 near Palmyra
MONROE CITY, Mo. — A Monroe City woman was killed in a one-vehicle traffic accident early Sunday morning.
A 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Crystal Hooper, 37, of Monroe City was southbound on U.S. 61, two miles north of Palmyra, when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting Hooper. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to a report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Hooper was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 26.
A passenger in the vehicle, Jeffrey Hendrix, 40, of Monroe City, was seriously injured in the crash and transported by Marion County ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. He was wearing a seat belt.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department, the Palmyra Fire Department and the Monroe City Police Department provided assistance.
