New London teen airlifted to Columbia hospital after boat propeller strikes him on Mark Twain Lake

MARK TWAIN LAKE, Mo. — A New London teen suffered serious injuries in a boating accident on Sunday on Mark Twain Lake near Point E.

A 2006 Chaparral 22-foot open bow boat driven by Jason Utterback, 54, of New London drifted into a tube with two occupants — Mackenzie Adams, 19, of Hannibal, Mo., and Jacob Utterback, 19, of New London. The boat’s propeller struck both Adams and Jacob Utterback.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Adams suffered minor injuries and was transported by private auto to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Jacob Utterback suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to the University of Missouri Hospital. 

The Monroe City Fire Department and Monroe City Ambulance provided assistance.
