Steven L. Johnson — Bienhoff Funeral Home

Services for Steven L. Johnson, 73, of Vandalia, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 10, 2024, at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia, with Pastor Jamie Franke officiating. Burial will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M., until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Steve was born on May 1, 1951, the son of Elmo and Verzona (Chinn) Johnson in Quincy, IL. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic Grade School and Quincy Notre Dame High School.
He graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1971 and then worked for 30 years for the IRS and US Department of Treasury.
He lived for many years in Upper Arlington, OH with his wife Becky Ward Johnson. She preceded him in death in August of 2023.
Steve is survived by one brother; Jim Johnson and wife Patti, of Haddonfield, NJ and two nieces; Lindsey Johnson of Skillman, NJ and Erica Leise of Haddonfield, NJ. In addition, Steve had one grandniece; Margot Leise and one grandnephew; Conrad Leise.
Steve spent his last several years on the Chinn Farm near Vandalia. It was his favorite place to spend his time.
Pallbearers will be Russell Reading, Brett Reading, Chad Reading, Raymond Kirtlink and Dewey Straube.
